Using Additional Personal Details DFF in iRecruitment but it is also required for Contacts in HR

We have configured IRC to show the Additional Personal Details DFF with some required security questions for Applicants.  We have found that if you make the questions required for Applicants, it is also required for Employees and Contact.  We are ok with it being required for Employees going forward, but not for Contacts.  Is there a way to make this DFF required for just Applicants/Employees? Is there another DFF that may be better suited for this use?
