Accounting Rules: Deferred and Non-Deferred

I have a simple question about Accounting rules, after going through all notes,user guides still i am not clear about the basic difference.  Please can some explain me how does a accounting rule is different when the the "deferred revenue check box enabled and not enabled.

We have 12 month accounting rule which does not have "deferred revenue" enabled, but still it will create the 12 unearned revenue and revenue sample lines and when you run "Revenue Recognition program" or "Revenue Master program" or " Submit Accounting program" it will create the completed lines.

But when we have 12 month accounting rule which has "deferred revenue " enabled,  its just create one line for unearned revenue line and revenue line but when you go to "Revenue Accounting" and schedule, it will create the 12 unearned revenue and revenue lines.
