How does Dynamic toggle applet work ?

I have Employee form (parent applet) based on Employee BC. Based on the staus of the employee the I need to  toggle the applet in Notes BC (child applet).

Employee status = Active, then notes applet should have employee DOJ field and description field

Employee status = Terminated, then notes applet should have DOJ field, Terminated Date and Description.

Query - Does the toggle applet works only on the same BC, like parent applet (employee form) & child applet (notes applet) should be of same BC
