UK PAY: RTI - Retry FPS

Could someone let me know if it's possible to use the Retry Payroll Process functionality to rerun individual records from the FPS?
The RTI White Paper indicates that the FPS must be rolled back before it can be rerun but if the 'Retry Payroll Process' option is selected from Submit Processes and Reports, the FPS is available as an option.
It would seem to be a lot easier to use 'Retry' to amend a handful of records out of several thousand rather than having to rollback and then rerun the whole payroll group - particularly when it's taking well over three hours to run in the first place.
