US PAY: Supplemental Pay with 457 Deduction Taken?

I have created a supplemental earnings element and need to have a 457 deduction taken from this element.  I added the 457 deduction element to the balance feeds for this new earnings element.  After running payroll process, it takes the whole earnings element amount as a 457 deduction.  The 457 deduction element should be taking a percent of the earnings element.  This deduction works correctly.  I believe my balance feeds for the new earnings element are wrong.  Can anyone help with this?
