Self Service - Absence management - tracking my leave request with the approvers

A quick one please,  Still in self service Absence management, how does the initator track who his leave request is with at all time. Yes they receive workflow notifications but we ve had cases where the notification engine is down for a while and users cant tell what stage their leave request is, I would appreciate if users cant tell from their worklist who their leave requests are pending approval with.
