Cannot associate an employee in Projects

 We have a new DBD employee created in HR. Once in Projects we tried to associate the employee/resource to an existing projects but the Person field in the Add Team Member page does not return this employee's name. I looked at the project and it is an indirect project with valid dates. I am able to see this person in HR, but not pull the details in the Person field, why is this?
