Purchasing News Section- Oracle i Procurement R12.1

This is my first post on the community ( many more to come!). Client would like to leverage Oracle iProucrement functionality to allow the Purchasing News Section to point to an internal  SharePoint community that's dedicated for Supply Chain Management. I reviewed other Metalink notes and the Implentation Guide and have figured that out. 

Now they would also like to have a feature where there is an alert or notification ( not WF Notification) on the Purchasing News Section when there is a new post to the community. OAF allows me to point these URLs to the internal site. However is there a way that there would be any sign/ alert in that section when a user logs in if there is a change to the internal site ( like a new post)?
