Simple Instlations of BI Publisher 11g

Hi,

We are trying to set up a POC for BI publisher for JD Edwards and have installed BI Publisher 11g using the simple install method.  I was to hoping to connect to JD edwards but all of the installation instructions seem to be written for full enterprise installations.  For example, Why do I need to log into server manager and Create a New Managed Instance to register the data access driver? Is there a way to do this on the BI publisher server?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
