How Do I Unexpire An Instance in R12?

A user created an instance and then went back, entered the expiration date and saved.  The instance was created to reflect it was out of enterprise with a customer and no transactions have been created against it.  When created, she used the wrong customer and status which we now need to correct but are unable to since it's expired. 

There are no IB errors for this instance.

I've seen suggestions about using the open interface to future date the expiration date and other recommendations but I wanted to put this out there with my specific circumstances to see what the correct solution is.
