OLM, OTA Workflow customization

in Human Capital Management - EBS (MOSC) Question
 Hi all,

   We have a requirement to customize notification in the OTA Workflow. I did some analysis and I could see that the the notification is sent by kicking the process programatically and this is done in the standard package ota_initialization_wf. the procedure that kicks this process off is Initialize_instructor_wf.

   This procedure has the item type and process hard-coded and hence I could not find a way to create custom process and start it off from the standard page to make the customization patch proof. Have any one come across such a scenario in OLM before? I believe this does not fit under the customization option described in document ID 414482.1
