Is it possible to trigger workflow when new record created in an EBC

So, we created an EBC which pulls data from an external SQL Server.

We have a requirement that whenever a new record is created in the external DB, the corresponding Service Request or Activity record should be updated in Siebel.

Now how can we monitor the EBC to trigger a workflow whenever a new record is added, considering that workflow policies are not supported by an EBC in siebel.

Any Insight/workarounds will be welcome.
