Cloning only the application tier of a patched environment.

 Hi,
Scenario:

We have two cloned instance A and B. We applied a patch on A but failed to due to forms unable to be generated. We applied the same patch on B and it applied successfully. There are already data on A (Account Codes, Application Setup, Lookup codes) which are not on B. I would like to know if it's possible to replace the application tier of instance A by cloning ONLY the application tier of B (database not included). Will this carry over the successful patch of B to A while still keeping the data on A?

(These data on A are crucial for testing the patch applied)
