Interconnect configuration in a RAC

Hi,   I have some performance problems, and the HA features of RAC seems not to work. So I began to check the RAC implementation(it has been implemented by an ORACLE Partner)  I found the private interconnect is made using a crossver cable! Then I tried to check if it is configured the HAIP resource. But I did not found ora.cluster_interconnect.haip when I executed crsctl stat res -t -init.
So I think it is no working properly.
Is it possible to correct this error?
I know one step is to connect both nodes to a switch. But I'd like to know what does it mean.
