Attribute Based Forecasting
Hello to everybody
I have been reading for some time now that Demantra supports "Attribute Based Forecast", that is: "ability to group, forecast, and display demand by attributes and characteristics.
The product attributes can also be used as demand variables to predict the demand and to model the shape of a new product introduction."
I have difficulties at understanding what "attributes" are in this contest: If they are intended as actually LEVELS, then of course there is the possibility of grouping data in worksheets, and doing forecast following the Forecast Tree, which is based directly on LEVELS.
But what do "attributes" have to do with "demand variables to predict the demand " and in NPI? For example, when I define a new product based on another one (method "Create Similar Product"), I define a couple of features like Item Code, Item Description, whether to copy source history or not, whether there is a cannibalization process or not, but I don't see any "Attribute" used to define how much similar the new product is to the orignal one. They actually both fall under the same Item hierarchy branch.
