Set Desname for PDF using Oracle Applications

We have a custom report for print quote that has a PDF output.  However, the output in oracle ebs is .out  We want to use the ability to email the output in R12. 

My users will not be able to handle opening this with Adobe. 

How can this be handled?  is there a way to have the output have a PDF extension in oracle apps? 

i know i can do this with XML, but i don't want to convert this program.
