Oracle Item Catalog - How to remove the (.) from the Item Description when using Descriptive Element

Hello Gurus,

If you look at the attached screen shot, the user do not want to see any (.) dots when using Item Catalog for their updated Item Description.

Is this standard functionality, or is there a way to remove the dots (.) from this item description?

The user would like to setup a List of values, in the descriptive Elements Value. How can this be acheived with Standard functionality?
