Dev: Meaning of fnd_message 'INV_EAM_GENEALOGY_SAME_CH_PAR'

I am getting an error when i am processing a material transaction for a serialized repairable item  But always i am getting the error as 'The child object and the parent object cannot be the same.'

I would like to know the reason of this error message in details to understand the fix required
