Autocreate in Buyer Work Center

Hi All,
When using Autocreate form the workflow gets fired in the background when crating PO from requisition, whereas when using  autocreate in BWC it does not fire the workflow. Can you please suggest what is the functionality behind that button. My issue is that we have a mandatory attribute at header level in PO which we have taken care in workflow but when using BWC it gives error as the attribute is not filled. Is there any user hook available in place of workflow ?
