Database Service failover

Hi,

   Could anyone let me know is there a way if I stop the database service through "srvctl stop service -s <service name> -i <instance> -d <db name>" command, I should be able to failover the database service running on that instance to be started on the other running database instance. I understand that in failure case CRS/GRID will take care of failover to the other running database instance. I'm looking this on all release of Oracle RAC (10g, 11gR1 and 11g R2 RAC). If you point me to any documents, that would be helpful.
