Email delivery option - what if "to" email is invalid?

I tested the sending of an email using 'Delivery options' to an invalid email address to see if the 'from' email gets an undeliverable message.  It does not.  Is there any way to make this happen?  Our users would want to know if they are using this functionality that if the email could not be delivered, they would be notified.
