best practice for increasing ldom volume sizes

HI, I'm running the latest OC version.  Thinking about the possibility of having to increase sizes of the volumes at some point in the future (with unexpected data growth), and wondering what the best practices are for doing this and keeping ops center happy.  We back into a compellent SAN, and present volumes to our CDOMs.  I know you can do this with zpool replace, putting in bigger volumes in place of the existing ones, but would OC accept this and still manage the assets?  Also our SAN can grow volumes, but I'm just starting to look into whether this
