crosscheck and expire when backing up to tape via netbackup
Please could someone tell me the best practice to adopt in the following backup scenario ?
We are backing up to tape.
The tape system is Netbackup which we are accessing via rman.
Within the rman script we have a crosscheck and delete expired.
The problem is that the crosschecks are taking longer and longer to complete as the number of times the databases are backed up is increasing.
I wonder whether we can simply not do these crosschecks since the netbackup profile takes care of the physical backups on tape anyway.
My concern with this is that the record within the rman repository (we are using a catalog) will simply grow and grow. Perhaps this does not matter.
