Mixing Compressed and Normal RMAN backupsets

edited Jun 4, 2013 11:35PM in Database Backup and Recovery (MOSC) 2 commentsAnswered
I use rman to backup my database to disk.  I do a full backupset backup on Sunday, incremental level 0, and during the week I do incremental level 2 backups.  About six months ago I started compressing my rman backups to conserve disk space.  Compression works great but it is a bit CPU intensive.

I now want to only compress the full backup I do on Sunday and run uncompressed backupset backups during the week.  My question: Is it okay to mix compressed and uncompressed backups or will I run into a problem?  I cannot think of any reason this would not work but I wanted to ask the experts before I try.

Howdy, Stranger!
