Item Make vs. Buy

Hi,
We have an item that is marked as "Make" and would be building for the next three months or so. After three months we would be buying the item from vendors. When we place a PO for future date for this item, ASCP recommends to reschedule the planned order for this PO and is not recommending to create planned orders for the components of the make item for the next three months. How do I handle this?
