Academic Org Reporting Tree

We are in the process of creating an academic org reporting tree for our campus.  We have always had an academic org security tree for managing what academic orgs can create/update courses.  My question is, should subjects be included in the reporting tree, and if so, how would we need to represent them to know that they are subjects and not academic orgs?
