LTO/cleaning/netbackup

Hello,
 I have a situation  in which an SL8500 has LTO4 drives, however cleaning those drive may/may not have been accomplished.

 My question is: What is recommended practice for a cleaning policy for LTO4 drive in an SL8500?

 Do I use the library? ACSLS or the application (NETBACKUP) to manage cleaning? I dont have any experience with LTO drives so I am at a loss.
