dgmgrl showing wrong status

Hi
  Recently couple of times, I observed "dgmgrl" returning wrong ouput.  In a standby configuration (10g database on RHEL), querying the status of standby configuration shows success.  But there will be archive gap between primary and standby and even v$managed_standby showing "waiting for archive gap".  I didn't able to find any information,.
