Restructuring project / tasks

Wonder if anyone has some insight on Project costing implications when moving materials / costs from multiple lower level tasks to now just one task? Is this even doable and how, any Oracle procedures / API's?

Trying to restructure our WBS for projects to minimize the number of projects and have been using Project Costing for about 6+ years.

Any help or guidance is appreciated.
