Ability to Search Notes Field from Service Requests

Users wish to be able to search the notes field in the service request.  I suspect this is not a current feature OOTB, I cannot find where this is an available object in the search options.  I have not been able to locate documentation that explicitly states it is not possible to search the contents of the Notes field in the Service Request.  Can someone confirm?

Is this something that one could do setting up a custom search?
