PO release numbering Digit size increased

Hi Experts,

we are facing the issue where in the PO release numbering  digit size has increase form 4 digit to 6 digits.

eg. earlier relase number are 1690  and the next number must be 1691 but instead the number changed to  169021..

Need your help to resolve this issue .
