Running concurrent request under custom schema (not APPS)

My functional guy has asked me if it possible run a concurrent request as a schema other than apps.
So I did the usual and created a custom application, but if I run a "SQL*Plus" type request which just does "select user from sys.dual", it's APPS.

Is there a way to do it under the XXC custom schema I created ?
