New 11.1.2.2 Set up Sharing SQL Servers

I am setting up a development application for the Hyperion version 11.1.2.2. Our IT dept would like to use SQL rather than Oracle. They also want to share/cohost 1 box with several other applications. I'd like to have single dedicated servers for the components. I remember reading that it is not a good idea to share server resources. What is best practice? Has anyone experienced issues with performance when sharing/cohosting SQL servers?
