SID Names of Primary and Standby Databases

I have a question around best practices in a Data Guard configuration.  In most of the examples I see it seems the SID of the primary and standby databases are different.  For example the primary database SID is prim_db and the standby database SID is stby_db.

Is it considered best practice for the SID's to be different?  Is there a problem if the SID of the primary database and the standby database are the same?  The reason I ask is it seems if I am going to do  switchover to a standby database there may be benefits if the database SID is the same.

Howdy, Stranger!
