Need to stop Data Guard temporarily

 Oracle 11g EE Windows 2008 Server
Hi, 

I need to temporarily turn off Data Guard. This is a test to prove that Data Guard is not the culprit for slow performance. 
I have a primary and 1 physical standby servers. I need to stop Data Guard from transmitting to the standby and a day or two later
reinstate Data Guard. We are running in MAX Performance mode and we are using Broker.
