Account Type changed from Expense to Liability

Dear Experts,
  The account type xxxxx Account segment is changed from expense to liability type, but still the YTD balance of previous financial year is being charged to profit and loss account. The balance should be carried forward to new financial year.  How this will  be corrected ?
