Journal deleted but data still present?

Hi,

I've come across an odd situation where journals have been deleted from the application but the data at <entity curr adjs> level is still retrieveable from the application database using extended analytics/smartview etc....the client is on v11.1.2.0.0.2762 , is this known issue for which a patch is available? i presume re-shelling the application should resolve it but as the issue is on the production application was hoping there was an easier fix ?
