Can an account have multiple ship to addresses?

From CRM On Demand online help it sounds like an account with multiple ship to address locations should be set up as child accounts and linked to a parent account. However, I also read something about shared addresses. We are using CRMOD for Customer Support case management. Would shared addresses help us with accounts that have multiple locations or is that feature only available for Sales?
