Base Currency - Project Costing

Hello,

I have a question regarding currency options in Project Costing. We have a business unit set up with USD, and we created a project with GTQ. Does the project's currency then become the base currency?

We tested adding transactions for this project and it appears as if the base currency remained USD. Is this correct in the way it should function?
