Client connections to 11.2.0.3 dont work

This is what is happening.
I am trying to connect to the 11.2.0.3 database from a forms6 client and other clients for example sqlplus version 8.0.6.0.0 and both dont work.

SQL plus simply hangs: stop working.

Toad 9.0.0 throwns an error: Access violation at adress....

Form6 does not connect.

I tried connecting from sql developer (latest version available at oracle) and did work.

Should this old clients connect to 11.2.0.3 database?

I appreciate your tips.
