Budget checking currency

I have a question on how the functionality is supposed to work regarding multicurrency budget checking:

We have a business unit in Project Costing with USD, budget is in USD. We have an AP and PO business unit with Canadian Currency (The corresponding GL business unit also is in CAD). When a PO is created in CAD, or a AP Voucher Is created in CAD, in what currency does the budget checking occur? Does the budget in PC get translated into CAD? Having difficulty testing this out...
