Is Oracle SOA Suite a mantadory (must have) component for the FCM installation?

 Hi,
I am trying to figure out if Oracle SOA Suite is an optional or a mandatory component for the installation and configuration of FCM. I have seen several documents mentioning SOA and FCM but I can not conclude if this is for a specific (optional) functionality or is a mandatory prerequisite of FCM.

If someone have real experience installing and configuring the product I will appreciate some feedback on this.
