Increase Heap Space on Catalog Bulk Load - Items Upload

Hello,
If I increase the Heap Space on the Catalog Bulk Load - Items Upload concurrent program:

1) will this increase the speed of the file being uploaded? Have a couple big files and trying to figure out how to increase the upload speed without having to break them all up. I also decreased the POR: Bulk Loader Commit Size profile to 1000. Should I decrease to 500?

2) If the heap space is set to 1gb what impact does that have on the system itself?
