Can you use BookID for Join Field Value

Guys,

this was posted on one of our SR's

"forJoinFieldValue can only join Financial Account to Book. Portfolio can also join to Book, so you may be able to figure out a way to get join through the Book object. Information on this can be found in the Administering Oracle CRM On Demand manual starting on page 634."

I was not clear on this issue. CAn you link 2 record types using the Book ID (for example in the same book) and then transfer data between them similar to Join Field Value functionality.
