What is EDI Gateway ,when to use it and what are its new features in R12

Hi All,


What is the EDI Gateway and when can we use it and  what are its new features in  R12.
Can you please suggest any documentation (student guide, Any White Paper) which gives me the differences and complete information with example.

What is the main difference between EDI Gateway and EDI - Translator.

How different is it from XML Gateway.
