Change Kernel from UEK to EL

Our client has deployed Oracle EBS to OEL 5.8 64x using the UEK kernel. They have requested that we change to the EL kernel so that they can install a backup agent that supports block backups of there Oracle Linux environments. What issues if any should we expect to encounter when we make this change? Currently we would simply be looking shutting down the dev applications, taking a cold backup, then at updating the default /etc/grub.conf on the host, and reboot. We would then bring up the applications for testing. Are there any risks of data corruption or other adverse
