ASM and DNFS

Hi,

We have a 11.2.0.3 RAC database with ASM
We are using NFS Server for shared storage and we are using Direct NFS client to access that data

Now we have little confusion regarding ASM and Direct NFS as we have heard that you can use either one as both performs the same functions and having these 2 would be redundant.

But isn't it true that ASM is basically storage volume manager and Direct NFS is a means of accessing the data in the ASM Disk group. If we dont use direct NFS, we will use Linux NFS Client to access that data which is basically same thing as Direct NFS but not as rich or robust in terms or performance

Howdy, Stranger!
