Renaming database file...on a Primary Standby configuration...

Hi All,

I know this might be very basic, but all your support is appreciated...

I have edited this to incorportate Standby issues...

I added a new datafile to a production tablespace but made a mistake in naming it..

ie. The name was new_datafile_02  instead of new_datafile02.dbf.

I would like to rename it.

the database 9.0.2.0, the operating system is HP UX.

It is a primary database and has one standby database, configured using DataGuard...

Is there any way of doing this without taking the tablespace offline...

If there is not, what is the process, would I need to use the o/s to rename the file?

Howdy, Stranger!
