NMON on Oracle Linux / Exadata

Hi,

Application team installed nmon on oracle linux / exadata and email me saying this below:

"I installed nmon on both  nodes on 6/28 to capture OS level metrics to help identify potential issues related to DIWQ2 poor performance.  According to Ray, nmon overwrites some of the core

packages and may prevent us from performing system restart or application of future patches.  We need to discuss available options to put packages (less nmon) back into a consistent state".

Could you help me with this? How nmon overwrites the core packages and prevent us from system restart? what is the solution for this?
