Certified Kernel Version on OEL 5.5 for Oracle 11gR2

I have a kernel version question.

I am installing Oracle 11gR2 on OEL 5.5. My version is the following.
$ uname -r
2.6.18-194.32.1.0.1.el5

The certified version I have found is the following.
> On Oracle Linux 5 Update 5
2.6.32-100.0.19 or later

When my server administrator tries to implement this kernel version he finds the NIC drivers in the kernel do not work. We have the latest OEL 5.5 kernel on there right now and that works fine with ASM. Do you know why we would require us to be on 5.5 and also be on the UEK? When we have a non-UEK kernel that will work fine with RAC.

Howdy, Stranger!
